Open your first project
Add a project folder and begin your first AI coding chat.
Once at least one provider model is enabled, you can add a local folder to Dream.
To work on another machine, follow SSH remote workspaces and choose Open on SSH Host instead.
From the getting-started screen, select Open Folder and choose the project directory you want Dream to use.
Dream starts with your default model. Use the model selector in the chat composer to choose any other enabled provider and model.
New chats inherit Default permissions from Settings. Open the shield control below the message box and choose Ask, Accept edits, or Full access for this task. See Agent permissions.
Describe the outcome you want and how it should be checked. For example: “Explain how this project starts, identify its test command, and suggest where to add a settings page.” Dream keeps the conversation and the project's tools together in the same workspace.
Inspect the result#
Read the response and open tool details when you want to inspect what the agent did. If it asks a question, answer in the same conversation. If it changes files, open Git → Changes in the right toolbar to review the diff. Use Files to inspect code or Terminal to run the project's checks.
For tasks that need specific code or a screenshot, add context before sending the request. You can change the chat's model using the selector beneath its message box. To change the starting model for future chats, use Settings → General → Models → Default chat model.
Return to a project#
Open projects remain available as tabs. If you close one, use Recently closed on the getting-started screen to find and restore it. Dream restores project context such as chats and open tools when possible.
Start another chat#
Use New chat to begin a separate conversation for the same project. Enable multi-chat when you want conversations side by side. Each has its own messages, but chats in the same project share its files.
Open Chat history to return to earlier work. When a task is finished, archive the conversation to remove it from active history while keeping it available to restore.
